Social Media Service Design for Gen Z and Gen Alpha : Ditto

Paid Industry-Academia Client Project for Daum
Student Association UX/HCI Club KHUX

Designed a new social media service for Gen Z and Gen Alpha in collaboration with Daum. Starting from the emerging trend of Ditto Consumption, we conducted large-scale user research to understand how social media shapes identity and real-world behavior, then translated these insights into an end-to-end service concept, interaction model, and business strategy.

Problem

For Gen Z and Gen Alpha, social media is no longer just a platform for consuming content—it actively shapes identity, preferences, and real-world behavior. However, existing platforms focus on endless content consumption driven by algorithms, making it difficult for users to discover meaningful experiences, translate inspiration into action, and build an authentic sense of identity.

However, existing platforms focus on endless content consumption driven by algorithms, making it difficult for users to discover meaningful experiences, translate inspiration into action, and build an authentic sense of identity.

Based on survey findings from 135 participants, we designed Ditto, a social media platform that transforms online inspiration into offline experiences. The service encourages users to participate in trends, document real-world actions, and gradually build their identity through shared experiences. Features such as the Ditto Button, Trend Gallery, Ditto History, Taste Lab, and Profile support the complete journey from discovering trends to expressing personal identity.
